Parking and Transportation, Working For Your Safety and Parking Needs

As the University continues to grow with the addition of new buildings and increasing enrollment each year, the Department of Parking and Transportation is concerned with your safety while driving on campus. One area of concern in recent past is the number of traffic accidents in the parking lots. Last year, over 100 minor accidents occurred on FIU property with a majority occurring in the parking lots. Our research indicates that the causes of many of these accidents occurred for various reasons such as improper backing, speeding through parking lots, not obeying traffic signal devices, and careless driving.

In conclusion, the Department of Parking and Transportation is committed to making your visit to campus a pleasant one. We plan to inform and update the community continuously about programs and activities that will have an impact on specific parking areas. The Department of Parking and Transportation welcomes suggestions to enhance operations and will forward them to the Parking and Transportation Advisory Committee.
